Story Title: Missing

Chapter 1 - Diamonds in the Sky

Nicki had never seen a sight more beautiful. The stars casted a glittery blanket over the city and invited her to stay. She admired the cool breeze that helped calm her hectic nerves and focused on inhaling and ex-haling. Just relax she told herself, closing her eyes while taking in the scent of the balcony. She gripped the handrails and hung her head forward, trying desperately to soothe her mind. Despite what happened 5 minutes ago, she was at ease. The soft wind that blew at her caramel-colored skin made her shiver. She heard a door slam, assuming he had just left and let out a sigh she didn't know she was holding. She tried hard not to let herself think about the argument that just took place, the way she tensed up and completely blacked out.
Nicki, focus! You have a show in two hours! she mentally told herself while collecting her thoughts. She finally lifted her head and used both of her hands to rub deep circles into her temples. She felt 5 fingers grip her left shoulder then spun around quickly, eager to know who it was.

Did he come back?

No. It was just her close mentor, Wayne.

"You 'ight?" he questioned in a deep tone. His voice was husky and his breath smelled of alcohol. Nicki nodded then gave him a short smile.

"I will be, thanks" she assured while giving him a quick hug. He stopped her before she could walk past him and held onto her hand.

"You can't be such a bitch to him Nicki" he slurred, nearly falling on top of the temporary blonde. Nicki tried hard to steady his weight and held him up with both hands.

"And you can't continue to drink Wayne" she retorted as he rolled his eyes.

"I may be fucked up but I know what I'm talking about!" he yelled. She ignored him and reentered her suite, throwing herself on the bed. She grabbed her BlackBerry and stared at it before going through her contact list.

Nicki's finger hovered over the call button which highlighted Safaree's number. She finally swallowed her pride and decided to call him.

*dialing tone*

The call failed and went straight to voice mail  She closed her eyes and sighed, figuring he was still pissed off at her.

"Listen SB, I know you're mad but... I'm sorry. Ok? I really am..."

She paused and searched for the right words to say.

"Just call me back. Please... you know I can't start a show without you. I... I love you. Bye"

She hung up her phone and placed it at her side. She was upset and that wasn't good, especially since she had a performance to do in less than two hours. She hated when they fought like this...

"Ugh" she complained as she buried her face into her pillow. An intoxicated Wayne passed by and left the room, leaving Nicki all alone. She didn't get a chance to see him leave since her face was still pressed against her pillow but she heard another loud slam. She jumped up from the noise but soon regained her composure, now laying on her chest.

About 10 minutes later a soft knock came to the female rapper's attention and she rolled her eyes, not wanting to move.

"Dream, who is it?" she called.

No answer.

This was odd. Big dream was always guarding her door.

"Dream?" she called out once more. She was starting to get suspicious. Nicki's head shot up from her pillow and she waited for a response.

The person knocked again, this time a little harder.

"Who is it?" she asked, almost in a whisper.

"It's room service!" the impatient tone answered.

Nicki felt a bit relieved but problem was, she never called room service.

She arose from her bed and slowly approached the door. She had nothing but a short black designer dress on and a pair of silver stilleto's to go with it. Her make-up was merely done, the natural outlines of her face glowing. She was extremely beautiful, no doubt about it.

She stood silent as a small voice in her head warned her not to open it.

"Hello?" the voice called.

Nicki shrugged off the feeling and decided to ignore the little voice in her head, finally allowing them access.

Not knowing in about 5 seconds, she was painfully going to regret it.

*10 minutes earlier*

Safaree was done. Out of all of the fights he's had with Nicki, this one was definitely the worse. Her words had cut through him and stabbed at his already broken heart. He tried to forget about what was being said, what awful words were being exchanged...

Just then his BlackBerry began to ring. He sighed then reached in his pocket to retrieve it. When he saw the name he was immediately tempted to answer, to accept whatever apology that would be given.

But he couldn't.

He just couldn't let this one slide. He frustratingly sighed then jammed his phone back into his pocket.

She needs to learn how to appreciate me more. I can't always let her win, he reminded himself while walking to a nearby store.

She's your heart, your everything. You two always have arguments. Why is this one any fucking different? his conscious argued. He rolled his eyes and walked to the counter, intending on buying some Advil for his newly formed headache. The question remained unanswered as it spiraled in his head.

Why was this any different?

He paid the cashier and walked out, headed back to the hotel.

-

As he arrived he immediately noticed the police cars, single ambulance and security in front of the hotel. Confused, he approached an officer and asked him what was going on.

"What happened?"

The policeman stared SB down then gave his partner a look.

"Excuse me, I'm pretty sure I just asked you a question" SB said, a little more demanding this time. The officer sighed then guided SB away from the scene.

"A woman was kidnapped about 20 minutes ago. People in the hotel said she was a famous rapper" the white male informed him.

SB stared stupidly at the man, as if the words he just said were hard to process.
'Kidnapped' and 'Famous rapper' were the only things going through his mind at the moment. He snapped out of his daze once he noticed a very pissed off Big Dream pushing away an EMT from the distance. His face was covered in bruises and he watched as he pushed away an ice pack that was being handed to him.

"Nicki" was the only thing SB got to say as he ran past the police officer and into the hotel.
